Skin Care Tips to Avoid Dry Skin All Winter

With the onset of winter comes the inevitable dryness that plagues all of us—even in SoCal. (Think of how many of us travel for the holidays and to ski destinations!) The following tips will help you keep your skin glowing and hydrated even in the harshest of climates.

Cooler Showers

Though it may be hard to fight the urge to take a piping hot shower on a cold morning, instead take a lukewarm shower for no more than 5 minutes. Long exposure to hot water strips skin of moisture.

Cover Your Face

If you are going to be outside for a prolonged period, protect your face from windburn and chapping with a warm scarf.

Stay Hydrated

Keeping the body hydrated helps prevent your skin from getting dry and scaly.

Stock Up on Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant that can help boost the body’s production of collagen, a protein that maintains skin and other connective tissues, and gives your face that youthful glow. We carry the “iS Clinical Super Serum Advance” Vitamin C Serum which also reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

Cleansing

Wash your face 2-3 times a day and deep cleanse at night before going to bed. Our #1 Selling cleanser is the “iS Clinical Cleansing Complex” which deep cleanses without drying and minimizes pore sizes.

Exfoliating

Exfoliating should be an integral part of your beauty routine. In winter, however, limit this to once or twice a week and use a mild product.

Moisturizing

You still need to moisturize your skin daily. Our “Youth Intensive Creme” from iS Clinical provides powerful 24 hour hydration. This rich formula is also anti aging and firming.

Face Masks

Winter care for dry skin means applying homemade hydrating masks to lock in moisture. The “Miracle Mask” from NuGene with human stem cells hydrates while providing important growth factors and polypeptide complexes.

Sunscreen

The sun might seem weak, but you still need protection from it. Don’t skip the sunscreen when you step out. We offer the “UV Daily Moisturizing Facial Sunscreen” in both tinted and clear with the added bonus of hyaluronic acid.

Avoid Fried Food

Limit heavy cheese-laden, fried and sugary foods in winter as this puts more pressure on your body to divert energy into breaking down and digesting.

Eat Healthy

Include a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables–add vitamins A and E to your diet to keep your skin healthy.

Avoid Heavy Make Up

Your makeup should contain dry and light ingredients to prevent clogging your pores.
