Wish You Had Stronger Cheekbones?

beauty portrait of smiling ginger woman with long hair

High cheekbones are one of the universal standards of beauty all over the world. It is no wonder, then, that so many people, men and women included, desire stronger and more pronounced cheekbones as a way of enhancing their aesthetic attractiveness.

Moreover, fuller and more defined cheeks signify youth. Since skin tends to sag and our body mass decreases over time as we age, cheeks can become sunken, which is a pronounced sign of aging.

Cheek implants are a permanent solution to weakened cheeks or low cheekbones. These implants can augment the shape and contours of the cheeks. With implants, youthfulness can be restored and a sense of confidence regained. Implants add volume as well as create lift, providing the perfect long-term solution to weak cheekbones.

How Is a Cheek Implant Procedure Performed?

Cheek implant surgery is quite simple and safe and has been proven to be effective in delivering desired results.

Cheek implants are available in many shapes and sizes, and they can be custom shaped according to your preference and your facial structure. Cheeks implants are made of various materials, including silicone and hydroxyapatite. The proper choice for your implant can be decided in consultation with your surgeon.

At the start of the surgery, small incisions are made in the mouth, in the upper gumline. If the procedure is being done along with another facial plastic surgery procedure, the incisions made for the previous surgery may be used instead.

The surgeon then forms small pockets in the cheek tissue, and the cheek implants are inserted in position through the incisions. The incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures.

Post-Surgery and Recovery

Stitches will completely dissolve in a couple of weeks, making removal unnecessary. There may be drains inserted in case there is excess fluid or blood that needs to be drained from the treatment site after the surgery.

The surgeon will provide detailed post-surgery instructions to help in the healing process. Swelling, bruising, and discomfort are completely normal after a cheek implant surgery. Cold compresses can help reduce swelling and bruising, and pain medication can be prescribed by the surgeon to help relieve any discomfort.

Since the treatment site is on your face, a liquid or soft diet may be necessary for a day or two, so as to not cause damage while eating. During recovery, you will need to sleep facing up for at least a week. Regular activities and work can be resumed within a week, but more vigorous activities should only be resumed after at least a few weeks as recommended by your surgeon.

Cheek implants are typically permanent. The effects of a cheek implant are usually lifelong, so you can enjoy your well-defined cheekbones and healthy cheeks without worrying about them dropping again. It is always a good idea to have regular appointments with your doctor, just to make sure that everything is going fine and to prevent any possible post-surgical complications.
