Recovering from Facial Plastic Surgery

If you are recovering from a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) there are no bandages, and all sutures are very fine. A lower lid blepharoplasty may use and incision below the lash line and closed with absorbable sutures. Incisions may also be performed from the inside of the eyelid and no suture are required in this case. The upper lid blepharoplasty uses sutures that are removed in 5-7 days . You may have some acute swelling for the first 6-8 days. The incisions generally heal very well and are difficult to find, with the benefits lasting 10+ years.
FACEology LIFT (Facelift Alternative)
Without the necessity for general anesthesia and the less invasive surgical techniques, patients are able to enjoy natural results sooner while experiencing less downtime and discomfort. Patient’s will typically take a mild to moderate prescription pain pill for 2-3 days after surgery. There will be some bruising and acute swelling but the majority of it will dissipate in about 6 to 10 days. Patients will come in the day after their procedure to remove the dressing and to make sure everything is healing well and to reinforce the incision care. Also, there is a one week visit to remove your fine sutures. Most patients will drive themselves to the suture removal appointment. Patients usually require 7 days off and can resume their physical activities in 2 weeks. Of course these times will vary depending on the patients health, level of aging, and other procedures combined. The procedure is often combined with a neck lift, eyelid lift, brow lift and / or laser resurfacing.
Rhinoplasty
If you had a rhinoplasty, you will have a plastic splint on your nose that must be kept dry. Typically, your nasal splint will be removed in the office at your one-week post-operative visit. While you need to keep the outside of your nose dry, you must keep the inside moist. All external sutures are absorbable and do not need to be removed. To maintain a moist environment, use saline spray and ointment inside your nose regularly for at least six weeks following surgery. Rhinoplasty provides a lifelong aesthetic benefit, however, the nose changes as we age, much like other facial features so results can vary a bit over time.
Browlift
Over the years, Dr. Lee has developed a special minimally invasive technique to elevate the lateral brow with his Temporal or Lateral Brow Lift which can be performed under local anesthesia. This novel technique allows for minimal recover times and has numerous advantages over traditional brow lifting. A small incision is hidden behind the temple hairline to elevate the outer corners of the brow. The procedure itself will take about 30 minutes. The recovery time is about 7 days, which is substantially less than with a traditional brow lift.
