Coming In for Your First TCA Chemical Peel

Published on April 11, 2019

Are you tired of looking in the mirror to find fine lines, scars, or dull looking skin? You will be pleasantly delighted to know that there are customizable peels available for any issue that you want to fix. If you wish to brighten your skin, eliminate fine lines, and acne scars, Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) can be used to treat these issues.

What Is TCA Chemical Peel?

TCA chemical peels are used to correct fine lines, superficial scars, minimal laxity, and pigmentation problems. It is a beneficial treatment for people of all skin types. Ethnic skin tones such as Asian, African-American, Italian, and other darker skin tones can also safely undergo this beneficial resurfacing treatment.

Trichloroacetic acid can be used in many concentrations, but it is most commonly used for medium-depth peeling to treat fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes, and pigment problems.

Who Is An Ideal Candidate For A TCA Peel?

An ideal candidate is someone who has slight wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, acne, acne scars, blackheads, or sun damaged skin. Candidates who have realistic ideas about the results are also considered to be ideal candidates.

Preparing for Your Chemical Peel

Before your peel, you are advised to treat your skin with a healthy skin care regimen for some time. You need to take good care of your face before you ever start thinking about doing a chemical peel.

Dermatologists can give you more information about how to treat your skin before the weeks that lead up to your peel. Using retinol, vitamin C, and sunscreen to protect you from the sun are all critical in helping your skin look good before, during, and after your peel. Together, they can help give you beautiful skin.

1. Wash Your Skin Thoroughly

Right before using your peel, you need to ensure that you wash your skin thoroughly, by using a gentle cleanser and not something that is designed to exfoliate your skin and be sure that you wash your face with lukewarm water for the best results. By doing this, you will keep your pores from opening too much while still encouraging your skin to be clean and ready for the peel.

2. Stay Hydrated and Moisturized

One of the best things you can do for your skin is to drink a lot of water and moisturize everyday. Doing this in combination with a chemical peel treatment can work wonders for your skin. It will start to look more vibrant, youthful, and beautiful.

The TCA Chemical Peel Procedure

You may feel a stinging sensation as the solution is applied, but it will quickly pass. A TCA peel usually takes around 15 minutes to complete. Two or more TCA peels may be required to obtain the desired aesthetic result, and they may be spaced out over several months.

Results After The Peel

After a TCA peel, your skin will be a little sensitive so it’s best to keep it protected with sunscreen when your out and about. Other than that, you can expect your skin to look refreshed and rejuvenated after the treatment is over.
