We Can Tighten Your Sagging Neck Skin

The neck is a part of the body that most of us tend to ignore. However, it’s one of the first places to look for the signs of aging. As we get older, the skin around our necks become loose due to a loss in elasticity. Needless to say, this makes the skin sag and hang loose.

Other than that, even sun damage or sudden, extreme weight loss can have the same effect. You end up with sagging skin around the neck.

We always pay attention to how the skin on our face looks. However, that’s not enough. If you want to enjoy a truly youthful appearance, you need to pay attention to your neck as well. The good news is that there are a range of treatments to help your neck skin look younger and firmer. One of those solutions is what we call a neck lift.

What is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift, also referred to as a lower rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that eliminates the visible signs of aging from the neck and the jawline. A neck lift can help solve a range of issues, such as eliminating excess fatty deposits under the chin, tightening neck skin, eliminating muscle banding (associated with abnormal contours), and relaxing the skin on the lower face to prevent the formation of jowls.

The Neck Lift Procedure

The first step involves administering anesthesia before beginning the procedure. There are generally two options to consider here – intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. The doctor will choose what’s most appropriate based on his diagnosis.

The next step involves making incisions. The type of incision will vary depending on the degree of work that needs to be carried out. The surgeon may choose between a limited incision neck lift or a traditional neck lift incision.

The latter type begins at the hairline, near the sideburns and moves around the ear and down, ending at the posterior hair. After this, the fat is sculpted and redistributed from the neck and jowls. The tissue underneath is repositioned and the platysma muscle is tightened.

Then, the skin is pulled back and reformed over the new contours. Liposuction may be carried out under the chin to remove any excess fat that remains in the area and your doctor repair underlying muscles that require it. Finally, the incisions are closed and bandaged.

Skin glue or sutures may be used to close the incisions. The sutures used are usually of the dissolving type. However, regular ones may also be used, which means you will have to get them removed after a few days.

Once healing occurs, the incision lines are hard to notice and will begin to fade with time. They are concealed well and align with the natural contours of the ear.

The Results of the Neck Lift

You may experience some swelling and bruising, which will disappear after a few weeks. The neck lift will restore your skin and deliver a very youthful appearance. You will also, likely, feel more confident about your appearance and secure in your own body.
